Born 1950 in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Full name: Kevin Wayne Jeter. Also writes under the name of Dr Adder.


"...Family descended from French Huguenots who came to America in 1703 and eventually became Louisiana Cajuns. He went to college at Cal State Fullerton in the late '60s - early '70s, graduating with a degree in sociology -- and the friendship of fellow collegians and would-be writers Tim Powers and James Blaylock. While at Fullerton, he wrote his actual first novel Dr.Adder (published a dozen years later), and made the acquaintance of one of his heroes, Philip K.Dick." -- (in Locus , Issue 425, Vol.36, No.6, June 1996).

Influenced by his mentor Philip K.Dick.

K.W.Jeter is often considered the originator of 'steampunk', a sub-genre of science fiction akin to a parallel universe, where computer technology is already developed in the age of steam power.

His film and TV novelizations include two sequels to Bladerunner , two 'Star Trek' novels, and an 'Alien Nation' novel.
