Born 1939, London, England.

Became editor of Tarzan Adventures at the age of sixteen.

Became editor of New Worlds magazine in 1964 (at the age of 24).

It encouraged rather than rejected literary experimentation and steadily became the focus for a re-evaluation of genre standards and a crucible for new attitudes." --Brian W.Aldiss (in Trillion Year Spree , 1986).


Excerpts from the first Jerry Cornelius novel, The Final Programme , began to appear in New Worlds in 1965.

Winner of the 1967 Nebula Award for his novella Behold the Man (published in 1966).

Wrote lyrics for (and occasionally performed with) the British band Hawkwind.
