"Meet Mink Mole. God's gunman. Anthropomorph extraordinaire. Problem is he can't figure out who he's gunning for anymore, and he doesn't care, because big things are afoot, leaving bloodied tracks criss-crossing his trail. And a shadowy roadkill lingers in the rearview mirror of his Buick LeSabre.

"But that's not all. A quarter of the population of Florida is dead and the rest dropping fast. The daily obituary columns span 15 full pages of ultra-fine print. There's not been a single birth recorded in over two weeks. The snowbirds and reptiles are dying and everyone -- from State Department officials to the Black Assassins to the mysterious Mr Bathtub -- wants to talk with Mink Mole.

"And to make matters worse Dr Adder is back in town, with an eyeful of diamonds and a coin to flip Mole's fate.

"So lighten up! Kick back! And as you can't trust reality do the next best thing, smile like a reptile, and take a death-trip cruise down Alligator Alley." [jacket blurb, UK hbk, 1989]

"Alligator Alley is a gonzo novel... If you've got a grim sense of humor and a taste for the Fellinesque, for the unfettered imagination; if you like ideas served up unexpurgated, then you've come to the right bartender. Go on, take an unhealthy swig of this bizarre home brew. It's bathtub stuff, maybe, but it's got a kick that keeps on kickin', and this is one cocktail that was mixed with psychedelics..." --John Shirley (from the Introduction, February 1989).
