Father: George Maddox.


Lived in a number of places while growing up, including Virginia, Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico.


"He received an undergraduate degree at The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, where he is currently the writing coordinator, and a Ph.D. in Literary Studies from American University, Washington, D.C.

"He has published short fiction and criticism in the science fiction field and wrote a monthly column titled 'Reports from the Electronic Frontier' for Locus magazine. His first novel, Halo , was published in 1991 by Tor Books in the United States and Century-Hutchinson in England; it has also been translated into German and Italian.

"His second novel, Walls of Lights , will be published by Tor Books.

"He is married to Mary Maddox.
He has a son, Leo Thomas, and a daughter, Molly.
