novel, science fiction, catastrophe theory

First novel. An unpublished manuscript (1978) which has circulated in rare photocopied editions.

"Scientists from around the world arrange a conference to discuss the discovery of a planetary body heading straight towards the Earth. Pet theories and specialist preoccupations seem to dominate the intellectual gathering... which degenerates into increasingly bizarre behaviour, inexplicable violence and gruesome deaths. Meanwhile, the planet Earth appears to be doomed.

"Rejected by publishers for its graphic violence, though praised for its science. [Some publishers even consulted experts to check the accuracy of the theories presented. Louis Sarno -- who actually did study theoretical mathematics -- categorically states that the science was all just made up.]

"There are probably only a handful of people who could appreciate the dark, dry humor of this book.

"Deliciously absurd theater of cruelty. Absolutely mad. Hilariously entertaining." --Henry W.Targowski (in Mark/Space , 1995).
